PrerequisitesThe Xythos Drive is a desktop application that must be installed on each computer where it will be used. To install the Xythos Drive, the user must have Administrator rights on the computer. Once installed, the user does not need Administrator rights to use the software.
Running with a Virus ScannerIf you are running a real-time virus scanner, it is recommended that you configure the virus scanner to exclude scanning of the Xythos Drive cache folder. Doing this provides a noticeable performance improvement opening and editing of files, and does not compromise the security of the system. The cache folder is C:\Documents and Settings\PC user account name\Local Settings\Application Data\Xythos\cache. If you do not see this folder, Windows Explorer may need to be set to show hidden files. On the Tools menu, select Folder Options. On the View tab, select Show hidden files and folders, and then click OK. Refer to your virus scanner's instructions to learn how to exclude certain directories from being scanned.
